Not Your Ordinary Spy
Natasha Romanoff was created by Marvel legend Stan Lee, scripter Don Rico, and artist Don Heck. The character originally debuted in Tales of Suspense #52 in 1964 as a Russian spy and antagonist to Iron Man. She later became an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and a member of the superhero team Avengers.
The red-headed Russian made her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in 2010 with the release of Iron Man 2 as a member of S.H.I.E.L.D, who was recruited by Hawkeye/Clint Barton (portrayed by Jeremy Renner).
She has since appeared in many more various films in the MCU: The Avengers (2012), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Avengers: Age Of Ultron (2015), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Black Widow (2021) — to name a few.
Black Widow (2021) was a much-needed origin story of the popular Avenger. Directed by Cate Shortland from a screenplay by Eric Pearson, it stars Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff, Florence Pugh as Natasha’s surrogate sister, and David Harbour as the Red Guardian.
