A World Of Monsters

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba (2016 – 2020) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge. The story follows the narrative of Tanjiro Kamado, who becomes the family’s breadwinner after his father’s unfortunate death. Making trips to nearby villages to sell coal, his life is quickly changed when he comes home to see that his family has been butchered by an evil entity, leaving only him and Nezuko (his sisters) left. After the attack, Nezuko was left cursed to become one of the creatures, but still surprisingly shows signs of human emotion.

While Tanjiro searches for a cure, the pair encounter Giyū Tomioka, a member of the Corps. Tanjiro is recruited by him and trained by Sakonji Urokodaki to become one of the team members. After taking part in an exam, he passes and officially joins the team, beginning his work of hunting down the monsters alongside Nezuko, who is hypnotized to bring no harm to humans.

Due to the success the manga series received, an anime television series was adapted, totalling 26 episodes in the first season which was released in 2019. The show also received a sequel film, Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Mugen Train, the following year.

Throughout the series you are introduced to a variety of incredible creatures, such as Kokushibo, Enmu, Gyokko, Hantengu, Susamaru, Nakime, Kaigaku, Rokuro, Akaza, Mukago, Doma, Kyogai, and Rui.
