Loki Odinson is an Asgardian god portrayed by Tom Hiddleston in the MCU. Based on the Norse mythological god of the same name, he is known as the God Of Mischief.
Created by writer Stan Lee, scripter Larry Lieber and penciller Jack Kirby, Loki first appeared Venus #6 (1949), a comic where he was depicted as a member of the Olympian gods exiled to the Underworld.
Originally being one of Thor’s arch-nemeses, he made frequent appearances in Thor-related comic book runs, such as The Avengers, X-Men, and Journey into Mystery and Thor. A solo comic book series called Vote Loki was released in 2016, featuring the eponymous character run for the US presidential election.
In 2011, he made his debut appearance on the big screen, alongside Thor in his brother's self-titled film. He has since become a recurring character and a morally ambiguous anti-hero. In addition, he has also featured in The Avengers (2012), Thor: The Dark World (2013), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019).
After the events of Endgame, Hiddleston reprised his role in the Disney+ television series Loki, which was released in 2021. The story follows an alternate version of the Asgardian god who is brought to the bureaucratic organization known as the Time Variance Authority (TVA). Throughout the course of the series, he encounters a variety of different characters: Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku), Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), Mobius (Owen Wilson), He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors), and Classic Loki (Richard E. Grant).
