Origins Of The Super Soldier

Steve Rodgers is one of the oldest superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). His origin dates back to the older Marvel comic book releases, first appearing in Captain America Comics #1 (1941) by Timely Comics (a predecessor of Marvel Comics).

Created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, Steve Rodgers was designed as a patriotic super soldier that fought in World War II and became immensely popular during the wartime period. After the events of the war, the popularity of superheroes decreased for a short period, causing the character series to be discontinued in 1950. From his revival in 1953, he has been one of the most beloved Marvel heroes around.

A Civil War At Pop In A Box

In 2011, the popularity of the character soared drastically with the MCU’s interpretation of Steve Rodgers in Captain America: The First Avenger, receiving high critical acclaim. Being the fifth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it was directed by Joe Johnston, written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. It also stars Chris Evans as the eponymous superhero.

Steve volunteers to participate in an experiment to turn him into a Super Soldier. Equipped with a red-and-blue protective suit and a star-decorate shield of vibranium, he takes on the terrorist organisation known as Hydra.

In addition to his debut appearance, he has appeared in a variety of live-action films, including the likes of The Avengers (2012), The Winter Soldier (2014), Avengers: Age Of Ultron (2015), Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019).
